We started the day in Franz Joseph and headed down Route 6 with a goal of reaching Queenstown sometime in the afternoon. It was probably the most beautiful and interesting drive so far on the south island. The scenery changed about every half hour - from mountains, to beautiful valleys to the beaches of the Tasman Sea.

Our hostel in Queensland is more like a hotel. We have a private bath and
lots of room. It is right in the center of Queensland and a few hundred feet
from Lake Wakatipu. Lots of great restaurants and shops surrounding us.
Between our hotel and the lake there is a park and last night there was a concert in the park
raising money for the earthquake victims in Christchurch. There were at least 10 bands
that played over a 10 hour period.
Are you losing it? You mentioned that you could make the pictures bigger in your first New Zealand post.
