Sunday, March 6, 2011 "Kiwi Adventure"

You know the old saying "You learn something new each day"?  My sister Debbie told me last night on Skype, if you click on any of the pictures in the blog, they will get bigger!  go figure!

We started the day in Franz Joseph and headed down Route 6 with a goal of reaching Queenstown sometime in the afternoon.  It was probably the most beautiful and interesting drive so far on the south island.  The scenery changed about every half hour - from mountains, to beautiful valleys to the beaches of the Tasman Sea.

Our hostel in Queensland is more like a hotel.  We have a private bath and
lots of room.  It is right in the center of Queensland and a few hundred feet
from Lake Wakatipu.  Lots of great restaurants and shops surrounding us.

Between our hotel and the lake there is a park and last night there was a concert in the park
raising money for the earthquake victims in Christchurch.  There were at least 10 bands
that played over a 10 hour period.

  1. Are you losing it? You mentioned that you could make the pictures bigger in your first New Zealand post.
